Express Burn is intended to create and burn various types of discs. Besides, it allows copying a disc into another one or into an image file. The tool supports practically all types of optical media, including CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs.
The application is very easy to use. Every time you open it, there is a wizard to help you go through the initial process successfully. In addition, the tool has separate tabs for each kind of task, which prevents you from getting confused. The first tab allows you to create audio discs, including audio CDs, MP3 CDs and MP3 DVDs. As multiple types of audio files are supported, you won’t have to worry about converting them to the required format. Besides, you can enter CD text to identify the included tracks.
The second tab, in turn, lets you author video DVDs as well as video BDs. Also, it supports adding video files regardless of their format, because practically every popular extension is allowed. Moreover, you can organize disc contents into chapters and even create menus to access them easier.
Next, there’s a third tab intended to create various types of data discs. Although the source directory structure is preserved when you import a folder, you can also edit that structure and even create new folders. Unluckily, it doesn’t support importing long file names.
There’s another tab specifically meant to create and write image files. In this respect, only two formats (ISO and IMG) are supported. Creating ISO images is possible from any of the other tabs, and it’s as simple as picking Image Drive instead of a physical disc burner.
All in all, Express Burn is quite versatile according to the types of discs it can create. Although it doesn’t have the prettiest interface, it’s quite intuitive. The disc menus aren’t as attractive as those you can create with other similar tools. There may be some limitations related to the image formats it can process, but it does support the most popular ones. Since there are many similar tools out there with different features and prices, you might, perhaps, want to try a few of them before making a decision.
